Final Trailer

Our final trailer is a teaser. We felt that a teaser allowed us to play around with the absence of dialogue as we did not feel it was needed to tell the story. We also felt that a teaser trailer creates more aniticipation for the real film.

Final Website

Our final website, is simplistic and designed to emphasise the theme of the piece which is domestic violence and the support out there for those that may have been effected by our trailer.

Final Poster

We chose this image to create our poster. It creates mystery and the minimalistic style that we wanted to display. Also the fact that it is black and white, makes the overall interest from the audience increase.

Final Storyboard

Final Trailer Music

Due to copyright, we are unable to use Bastille's Oblivion. This includes covers of this song as well therefore we are using a piano piece. It provides the emotional background that adds to the clips that we think works effectively to create the style we envisioned.

Underwater Scene

the Underwater scenes were a challenge to begin with, to find a way to shoot the clips in the correct location and also without damaging the phone. We found that a waterproof case worked perfectly to protect the phone and achieved the finish we wanted.

Final Title Decision

We changed the name from Listen to White Ribbon as we felt due to the change in the genre we thought the link to the domestic abuse charity made the name more poignant and meaningful if audiences research it. Also even if they don't the name is intriguing but gives nothing away about the narrative and therefore would entice people into watching and talking about it.

Feedback Of Trailer So Far

We found out what people of the age group 16-18 thought about the first draft of our trailer. Overall everyone really liked it and thought the story line being about domestic violence was a story that they haven't seen made like this before.

Areas of improvement:

  • finish off areas where the transitions are not at their best.
  • make sure the music fits with the emotion of the scene.

Editing Process

We used throughout our editing iMovie to create he best possible trailer we could make.

This allowed us to use the many tools that iMovie has to offer, which created the desired effected we wanted. The simple clip trimmer allowed us to use the sections of clips we wanted rather than everything. Also the link to iTunes helped when it came to the music we wanted to use as well.

Final Narraitve Decision

Our Final narrative is based around a male, who struggles to understand the rules of society. The male is someone who appears to be a normal member of society, he is able to meet and date girls however due to his constant jealousy, the relationships become toxic and lead to violence. Various events occur that suggest his controlling yet loving idea of a relationship.

The main female lead, is weakened by the relationship she finds herself in and as the issues increase between them, so does the violence. He finds himself with a serious issue when his jealousy becomes all too much, and he cannot control what happens. The girls death is a surprise despite his actions, there is a sense of affection but shown in the wrong way.

Finally the twist that we wanted to surprise the audience with when they watch the actual film as there is a slight tease to entice the audience to the cinema to see the film. The tease is that the male lead is never intending to get the daughter but wants the mother of the girl he dates.

This twist is the hook of our production as we intend it to change the way ends of films always comes to a finish with all questions answered, we wanted to challenge this and create more questions at the end.

Make-up Testing

The make-up is a massive part of our trailer as shown below the tests worked well using eye-shadows of varying colours. We then decided to use multiple girls for the sequence of shots using the eye-shadows as the results are exactly what we want. This meant we needed 3 different brunette girls to bruise.

Scripting

Due to our scenes being muted throughout our trailer, we don't need to provide any prior scripting for our actors.

This was our decision as we felt having our actors speaking could cause our trailer to look 'staged' as we wouldn't be able to find anyone who has the same acting skills as those seen in trailers on television. We also believe that having silent characters would help create mystery and suspense as  our audience will be unable to figure out their discussions or the contexts of our shots.

Initial Filming

Our initial filming went well, despite the fact we were on a time sensitive schedule as our actor had to go we achieved a lot of the individual male shots which are vital to the overall look of the trailer.

Website Initial Ideas

Overall we felt the website needed to be simplistic and well designed. The main features of the website that were most important to us, was ensuring it fit with the poster and the trailer itself. Brand cohesion is a vital part of our brand.

This template was a massive influence in the way we wanted our website to look like, with the meaningful images.

Possible Titles

We have been through a lot of possible titles as it is important to us that we name our piece the correct title based on the story. We have taken inspiration for many songs and other films in the same genre to ensure we come up with the best name that sums up our piece completely.

Examples:

Broken

Obsession

Listen

Family Affair

Manipulation

Abuse

Infatuation

The Boy

Underwater Filming

We used a waterproof camera case to ensure that we were able to display the graphic depiction of the drowning, with some extreme close-up shots that unsettle the audience.

Influences on Opening of Our Trailer

'Orange is The New Black' a very famous television show has influenced our trailer as we really liked the opening and felt something similar could work well in relation to our trailer.

We intend to use this influence and apply this to 'police shots' of various girls who have ben beaten up this will create tension and instantly draw the viewer into the story wihtin the first 20 seconds.
